X/Twitter Image Sizes
X/Twitter profile picture size: 400 x 400 pixels
The recommended size for Instagram profile picture is 400 x 400 pixels. However you can also upload an image that is 200 x 200 pixels.
Maximum upload size: 2MB
Just like other social media, X/Twitter profile pictures are displayed as a round so avoid putting important information on the sides.
X/Twitter post size for header/profile banner: 1500 x 500 pixels.
When it comes to the header, the image size is 1500 x 500 pixels.
The header is shown differently depending on the browser and the device so make sure that the most important is at the center vertically and not too much to the edges horizontally.
Maximum upload size: 5MB
X/Twitter post size for photos: 1600 x 900 pixels
X/Twitter recommends uploading images which are 1600 x 900 pixels at an aspect ratio of 2:1 and 1:1 on desktop and 2:1, 16:9, and 3:4 on mobile
Minimum size: 600 x 355 pixels
Aspect ratio: 2:1 and 1:1 on desktop and 2:1, 16:9, and 3:4 on mobile
Landscape images: 1080 x 566 pixels with an aspect ratio of 1.91:1
The file types allowed: PNG, JPEG or GIF
Maximum upload size: 5MB on mobile and 15MB on desktop
Instagram Image Sizes
Instagram profile picture size: 320 x 320 pixels
The size for Instagram profile picture is 320 x 320 pixels. Although the images are displayed at 110 x 100 pixels, the upload size is 320 x 320 pixels.
Even though the dimensions are in a square format, Instagram (and most social media) displays the profile picture as a circle so make sure the most important information is at the center.
Instagram post size for Photos
Instagram photos can be square, vertical, or landscape but all images are cropped to a square on the feed until the user clicks on the post.
- Square images: 1080 x 1080 pixels at a 1:1 aspect ratio
- Vertical (portrait) Images: 1080 x 1350 pixels at an aspect ratio of 4:5
- Landscape images: 1080 x 566 pixels with an aspect ratio of 1.91:1
The file types allowed: PNG or JPEG

Instagram post size for Reels: 1080 x 1920 pixels
Instagram Reels take up the full display of the screen and the ideal size is 1080 x 1920 pixels with an aspect ratio of 9:16

Instagram post size for videos
Just as Instagram images, Instagram videos can be square, vertical, or landscape.
- Vertical videos: 1080 x 1350 pixels at an aspect ratio of 4:5
- Square videos: 1080 x 1080 pixels at a 1:1 aspect ratio
- Landscape: 1080 x 566 pixels with an aspect ratio of 1.91:1
- Or you can also upload a video with an aspect ratio of 16:9 which is 1920px by 1080px to be viewed sideways

Maximum video length: 60 Minutes
Maximum upload size: 3.6 GB
Minimum resolution: 720 pixels
Instagram video cover photo: 420px by 654px
For the cover photo, be sure to keep all the important information towards the center so they can be visible when cropped to be displayed in different feeds.
Instagram post size for Stories: 1080 x 1920 pixels
Instagram stories also take the whole display so the ideal size is 1080 x 1920 pixels with an aspect ratio of 9:16 (for both photos and videos)
Image file type: PNG or JPEG
Video file type: MP4, MOV, or GIF
Maximum video length: 15 seconds. The video can be 1 minute long but it will be split into chunks of 15 seconds
Instagram post size for Carousels: 1080 x 1080 pixels
Instagram Carousels are collections of images or videos grouped together and shared as a single post.
- Carousels can include any of the three sizes (square, vertical, or landscape) but square posts are recommended (1080px by 1080px at 1:1 aspect ratio)
Vertical and landscape posts will include a top and bottom black space to make it square.
LinkedIn Image Sizes
LinkedIn profile picture size for personal pages: 400 x 400 pixels
The size for LinkedIn profile picture is 400 x 400 pixels.
Maximum upload size: 8MB
LinkedIn post size for personal profile cover: 1584 x 396 pixels.
LinkedIn’s personal profile cover is recommended to be 1584 x 396 pixels at 4:1 aspect ratio.
Maximum upload size: 8MB
LinkedIn cover images are displayed differently depending on the device so check on both mobile and desktop.

- Company logo size: 300 x 300 pixels
- Square logo size: 60 x 60 pixels

Facebook Image Sizes
Facebook profile picture size: 170 x 170 pixels
Facebook profile image is displayed at 170 x170 pixels on the desktop and 128 x 128 pixels on mobile.
Maximum upload size: 8MB
Facebook post size for cover photos: 851 x 315 pixels
The display size for Facebook cover photos is 851 x 312 pixels on desktop and 640 x 360 pixels on mobile. The recommended upload size is 851 x 315 pixels.

Facebook post size for timeline photos
Facebook recommends uploading images that are 1200 x 630 pixels but are then resized automatically for the timeline to be to be 500 pixels and to fit 1.91:1 aspect ratio. We recommend uploading high quality photos so even when scaled down they will still look good.
Recommended size: 1200 x 630 pixels
Aspect ratio: 9:16 or 16:9
Facebook shows images in both landscape and portrait so make sure you images follow those aspect ratios.
Facebook post size for Stories: 1080 x 1920 pixels
Since Facebook stories take the entire mobile screen, the recommended size is 1080 x 1920 pixels

Facebook post size for event cover photos: 1200 x 628 pixels
For a Facebook event cover image, the recommended size is 1200 x 628 pixels which is approximately 2:1 aspect ratio.
Keep in mind that you can not edit event cover photos once you have uploaded them.
Facebook post size for Group cover photos: 1640 x 856 pixels
The size for a Facebook Group cover photo is 1640 x 856 pixels at 1.91:1 aspect ratio.
Facebook post size for panorama or 360
The size for panorama or 360 photos should be less than 30,000 pixels in any direction and not more than 135,000,000 pixels in total.
Recommended size: Less than 30,000 pixels in any direction and not more than 135,000,000 in total
Aspect ratio: 2:1
Maximum upload size: 45MB for JPEG and 60MB for PNG
TikTok Image Sizes
TikTok profile picture size: 200 x 200 pixels
The minimum size to upload for a TikTok profile picture is 20 x 20 pixels. But it’s better to upload a higher quality. We recommend at least 200 x 200 pixels.
TikTok video size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
TikTok’s videos take the whole screen of the mobile device and hence 1080 x 1920 pixels is the ideal size. You can upload landscape videos but they will have a black part on the top and bottom.
Portrait TikTok video size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
Landscape TikTok video size: 1920 x 1080 pixels
Video aspect ratio: 9:16
Maximum upload size: 72MB for android users and 287.6MB for iOS users
TikTok carousel image size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
The ideal size for TikTok carousel image is 1080 x 1920 pixels at an aspect ratio of 9:16. You can also upload images at 1:1 ratio or 4:5 ratio.
Threads Image Sizes
Threads profile picture size: 320 x 320 pixels
Threads profile pictures are the same size as Instagram at 320 x 320 pixels. You can even sync your Threads profile picture with Instagram so you use the same image.

Threads has not imposed any restrictions on images and when you share images with different sizes, they don’t get cropped. We recommend uploading high quality images in general.
Does it Matter to Use the Right Sizes for Social Media?
Yes because if you don’t have the correct size, your posts will be cropped out and important information may be hidden or may not be read if you upload posts with low resolution. Some socials even prevent you from uploading at all if your images are not the right size.
That’s why it’s important to have the correct size.
