  • The Top 5 tweets of 2021 leaned a little political. As crazy as 2020 was, it was an election year in America and the whole world was watching.

Joe Biden – 4 million

With the new year rolling in, it was time for a new beginning. And, the most liked tweet of 2021 signalled just that.

It was a tweet from the newly elected President of the USA, Joe Biden on the day of his inauguration, that read “It’s a new day in America.”

The tweet with 4 million likes truly marked a new beginning as we could all finally let out a sigh of relief and put the drama of the election behind us.

Barack Obama – 2.7 million

Tweet number four on the Top 5 chart was congratulatory messages for the newly elected Presi from a friend and former boss Barack Obama.

Twitter – 3.3 million

The Most Retweeted Tweets of 2021

With everything that went on in 2021, it is not surprising that the tweet with the most retweets addressed a social issue.

Covid-19’s origin’s in China brought about with it a lot of Asian hate in 2021. And, many Asian’s had to endure racism, violence, and crime.

To help, BTS used their influence and tweeted #StopAsianHate and #StopAAPIHate along with a statement condemning hatred against Asians.

The tweet got one million retweets, making it the most retweeted tweet of 2021.

On a happier note for the #BTSArmy, number four on the Top 5 list of the most retweeted tweets of 2021 was the Recording Academy’s (GRAMMY’s) announcement that BTS would be performing at the GRAMMY awards ceremony.

The second most retweeted tweet of 2021 was Manchester United’s welcome of Cristiano Ronaldo on his return to Old Trafford.

The tweet got close to 600k retweets as the rumor mill finally stopped after weeks of speculation that we might finally get to see Messi and Ronaldo play for the same team.

The third most retweeted tweet of 2021 was Twitter’s three-word greeting to the world. This means Twitter’s three-word hello was the third most-liked and retweeted tweet of 2021. Magic.-

Closing out the list of the Top 5 retweeted tweets of 2021 was a tweet for Billboard charts #Hot100 Top 10
