There are two ways to delete a Threads account. You can either deactivate or permanently delete it. 

Deactivating it will cause your Threads account and everything related to it such as likes, content and followers to be hidden until you reactivate your account by logging in. 

Permanently deleting your account will cause it to be hidden for 30 days and you can recover it anytime within that day but after 30 days it will be permanently deleted and you can no longer recover it.

How to deactivate your Threads account

1. Open the Threads app and click the profile tab on the lower right corner

2. Tap the two dashes on the top right to access settings

3. Click on “Account” to access account settings

4. Click “Deactivate or delete profile”

5. Click the “Deactivate profile” button

You will be asked for confirmation if you really want to deactivate it and that’s it. You will successfully have deactivated your Threads account. To deactivate just log back in.

How to permanently delete your Threads account

The steps to deleting your Threads account are similar to deactivating your account.

1. Open the Threads app and click the profile tab on the lower right corner

2. Tap the two dashes on the top right to access settings

3. Click on “Account” to access account settings

4. Click “Deactivate or delete profile”

5. Click the “Delete profile” button

6. A confirmation screen will appear for you to enter your password, and then you can delete your account.

You will get a notification that your Threads account is scheduled for deletion within the next 30 days. You can log back in within this time to retrieve your account. After 30 days your account will permanently be deleted and you won’t be able to retrieve it.
